What is omitted becomes as important as what remains.
This principle lies at the heart of my approach and has become increasingly central to the intention and direction of my current work. The ABSENCES series represents my latest exploration within an ongoing journey towards minimalist abstraction. With Absences IV, I continue to distil the visual language of the work, reducing it to a limited palette and a restrained vocabulary of forms.
Within this reduced field, the remaining elements interact to generate tension, movement, and a sense of dynamic equilibrium. Their presence is intensified by the expansive emptiness that surrounds them. What is absent is not merely a void; it becomes an active and essential component of the composition, shaping the way the visible forms are perceived and experienced.
There is an inherent sense of unrest within the individual forms, set against the stillness and apparent calm of the white expanse. This creates a fundamental contradiction between presence and absence, activity and stillness, tension and release. It is within this space between opposites that the painting finds its presence.
