Working in Series. And how intentions shifts and deepens.
Working on a series of paintings in parallel can be a highly revealing process. Subtle shifts in intention often happen when I immerse myself in a new series. In my current way of working, I have sometimes three, or five, or even seven paintings, in various sizes, ongoing.
I find this to be the best way for me to work. I start off very often with a play session, telling myself that I don't need to have any intention at all. That is of course never completely true. Simply starting off with large sheets of paper is a good way of avoiding things becoming "important". I work almost always on the floor in my studio. And...
